U.S. not only dismisses ceasefire, but restocks Israel’s arsenal

In her very recent visit to Beirut and Israel, Condoleezza Rice said there would be no ceasefire on Lebanon. The Secretary of State met with officials in Beirut, but the two sides were unable to agree on any peaceful solutions that would bring an end to the conflict. The U.S. has been the sole participant in the United Nations to vote down a resolution that would demand an immediate ceasefire while the Lebanese civilian death toll nears 400, a staggering proportion of the casualties being children.

Meanwhile, the New York Times has reported that the U.S. has began to rush a delivery of laser and satellite-guided bombs to the Israeli military after they requested them since beginning their attacks on Lebanon in the past two weeks. In a pathetic gesture of compassion, the U.S. has vowed to provide Lebanon a mere $30 million to help with the mounting humanitarian crisis, an amount that is peanuts compared to the $2.3 billion they annually fund the Israeli military. Protests have exploded in many parts of the world, including Tel Aviv, as criticism for both Israel and the U.S. continues to ignite among global leaders.
