Mother Jones offers extensive timeline of lies leading to Iraq War
In the September/October edition, Mother Jones Magazine has published a complete and in-depth timeline regarding the lies of the Bush Administration and its supporters around the globe in their lead-up to the Iraq Invasion. The timeline begins as early as in January 1990, when then-Secretary of Defense Dick Cheney advised President Bush Sr. about the problems that could arise if Saddam Hussein was in a position to control the oil that America relied on from Iraq, one year before Bush Sr. launched Operation Desert Storm.
The timeline follows Operation Desert Storm through the 1990's, and then documents in 1997 when the founding statement of the Project For a New American Century is signed, a document that outlined how the U.S. was to become the world's leading superpower in the 21st century. Many of the signatures in 1997 were of those men who would later serve on Bush's cabinet in 2000 and 2004. The timeline also follows the issues surrounding Ahmed Chalabi (Bush's main inside source of intelligence for Iraq's supposed WMD program), Halliburton, Al Qaeda operations, President Clinton's Iraq Liberation Act, the 2000 election, briefings to the Bush Administration about Bin Laden's intent to strike the U.S. (August 2003), Anthrax, NSA, War on Terror, Operation Iraqi Freedom, and much, much more. The taglines for the articles include True Intel, False Intel, Fear Factor, Civil Liberties Eroded, Distraction, Torture, Expanded Executive Powers, Date It Happened, Date The Public Knew, Quagmires, Contractors/Profiteering, and Mission Accomplished - all of which provide a pretty clear picture of the different aspects of the Bush Administration's policies and procedures. Mother Jones has done a tremendous job in laying it out in a comprehensive way for the public to follow.
