The International Day of Peace was designated by the United Nations in a resolution in 1981, with its first celebration following in September 1982. The International Day of Peace is celebrated on six continents in over 180 countries, providing an opportunity for individuals, organizations and nations to share a day in coordinating practical acts of peace together.
