Bush predicted to announce the deployment of additional troops to Iraq
The Council for a Livable World has facilitated a petition to Congress demanding that they do not allow Bush to pursue his plans to send additional troops to Iraq, an action that many predict will only escalate the conflict without providing any positive results.
On Wednesday at 9:00pm EST, Bush is scheduled to address the nation and introduce his plans to increase the number of American troops in Baghdad. His proposal comes with heavy criticism and his approval ratings by the American public on his handling of the war fell to an all-time low of 26 percent. Meanwhile, Congressman Kucinich has put together his own plan to bring before Congress that will call for multiple steps to end the U.S. occupation. His plans include cutting off funding for the war while using the existing money to begin a complete troop withdrawl, remove every U.S. private contractor from Iraq and close U.S. military bases. Senator Kennedy has also introduced legislation to tighten authorization for troop deployment and Senator Obama has openly criticized a troop increase.
You can sign the petition for Congress here and then pass it along.
