Who We Are

Mandi Jones

Mandi Jones was born and raised in Colorado. She grew up in an impoverished farming community and got her first taste of social inequality at a very early age. She began questioning the policies of authoritative figures before ever learning that such criticism was deemed “inappropriate” by social standards and often paid heavily for it. However, she continued to stay true to her voice and thoughts, becoming the catalyst for bringing Feisty Aphrodite to life. Her anger towards the current administration and the apathy of the American public pushed her to start Feisty. Mandi’s compassion for others has led her to work and advocate for various non-profit organizations. She is a talented author, is currently working on a book and is the Editorial Director of Feisty Aphrodite Media. Mandi attends the Metropolitan State College of Denver where is studying linguistic anthropology. You can contact her at .

Nikki Lamagna

Nikki Lamagna was born and raised on the East Coast, spending most of her high school days in a sort of coma. Art became the path to lead her out of the haze of adolescence. After dropping out of college when she was 19, she spent the next four years backpacking and hitchhiking across the country. Through her experiences of absolute strangers offering her a place to sleep, food to eat and safety, she came to the belief that people are innately good. She is the Creative Director of Feisty Aphrodite Media, as well as an illustrator (see her sites: Nikki Lamagna: Illustrative Designer & The Zen of Designing). She is also the creative visionary of the Feisty Aphrodite web site. Nikki believes art and design are driving forces behind what we think and feel. Her design firm focuses on truthful advertising and talking “up” to the consumer. You can contact her at .

Synergy

Mandi and Nikki met in August of 2005, forming an immediate bond through late-night talks over stale coffee. Their vision of what Feisty Aphrodite should be slowly evolved over the following months and they spent the last week in June 2006 setting up the site in anticipation of the July 4th launch. Since then, both of them have worked towards promoting every individual’s responsibility of staying informed by seeking independent and socially responsible media, rather than just sufficing one’s knowledge of the world to the six o’clock news. They believe in taking action and that young people have much more to say than they are given credit for. You will probably see them around regional protests. They’d be ecstatic if you stopped them and said hi!

Our Mission

Believing that knowledge is power, Feisty Aphrodite strives to empower women to use their own voice to raise awareness of the issues we face through technology training workshops, providing independent media coverage and evoking social change through grassroots media activism.
